Visiting the Park

 

Highfield Park is situated on the south eastern side of St Albans in Hertfordshire.

Tree Trail Leaflet

The tree trail leaflet guides visitors around the Park, with a map and information about the various trees in the Park.  This leaflet can be picked up from Charters Health Club. 

Car Parks

There are two free car parks in the Park.

Charters Health Club This car park is open 24 hours a day throughout the week.

West Lodge This Car Park  is locked at 6pm and is closed at the weekends.


Travelling by bus

The S7 bus leaves St Albans town centre (St Peters Street) via the Railway Station hourly Monday to Saturday alight at Hill End Lane opposite the SPAR shop.

Travelling by train

St Albans is on Thameslink with trains every 20 minutes from central London. It is 2 miles to the Park via Camp Rd or you may take a taxi or an S2/S7 bus to Camp Road/Drakes Drive junction.

   Travelling by bike

The Trust permits cycling on a permissive basis, throughout the Park, using the tarmaced paths.  There are cycle racks at Charters Heath Club.

The Alban Way, a trail for cyclists and walkers using a former railway line, runs between Hatfield and St Albans.  Leave the Alban Way at the Hill End Lane junction and cycle down Hixberry Lane. The entrance to the park is on your right.

Walking your dog

The Park is a popular place for dog walking. We request that dogs are kept under control and that dog mess is picked up and disposed of in the dog waste bins provided. FREE dog mess bags are available from  West Lodge.

Horse riding

The Trust permits horse riding on a permissive using the tarmaced paths.  Horse riders are asked to keep to the tarmaced paths, give way to pedestrians and clear any manure from the paths.
